The Production Editor's role is to copy edit tech-focused editorial content for errors while making sure the content follows AP and TechTarget style, often under tight deadlines. The Production Editor also posts articles online using a content management system, communicating with editors using a help desk system. The ideal candidate will have strong proofreading experience (AP style preferred), as well as experience managing competing priorities and deadlines.
 
Essential job functions:
Copy edit and post up to eight pieces of editorial content per day, according to AP style and the TechTarget style guide;
Communicate clearly and professionally with content editors about submitted content via the help desk application;
Work with content editors to implement copy changes that are factually accurate and grammatically correct; and
Collaborate with the visual editing team to ensure article publication deadlines are met.
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

Bachelor's degree (preferably in English, journalism or communications);
Minimum 2+ years' experience copy editing/proofreading, preferably with AP style;
Strong attention to detail;
Self-directed team player with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines;
Savvy communication skills and professional demeanor; and
Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
 
Preferred skills and abilities:
Basic knowledge of HTML;
Understanding of search engine optimization;
Experience with content management and help desk ticket systems; and
Knowledge of enterprise IT subject matter
