Desktop Support Administrator

TechTarget is seeking a Desktop Support Administrator for our Newton office whose primary responsibilities will include PC/Laptop installation/repair, telephone support, end user support through our web based ticket system, asset management and systems management. Desktop support will be 85% of your time and systems administration will be 15% of your time. The Desktop Support Administrator will also participate in maintaining systems that require high availability. You will be required to work on call as needed. The position reports to the Sr. Director of IT Operations, Corporate Systems. This is an excellent opportunity to combine desktop support experience into working knowledge of server environments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Configuration and deployment of Windows XP, Windows 7, MAC OSX and other platforms
  • Installation and working knowledge of a variety of software applications
  • Remedial training for end users
  • Hardware support and RMA management using our Dell Premier service
  • End user support for a 600 user office and our remote offices
  • Maintaining hardware and software inventory
  • Telephone setup and deployment including moves adds and changes
  • New account setups and deployments
  • Miscellaneous Exchange 2007 tasks
  • Project responsibilities as assigned
  • Cell Phone and Mobile Device management (Blackberries, IPhones, Smart phones)
  • Conference operation support

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • 1-2 years of desktop support experience
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to create organizational business practices to protect mission-critical systems
  • Proven ability to anticipate and plan for system shortfalls
  • Ability to relate to end users like they are customers
  • Must have experience with the following: Windows 7, XP; MS Office applications
  • Experience with the following platforms are a plus: MS Windows 2003/2008 Server; Active Directory; TCP/IP/Networking and VPN's.
  • Skills in the following technologies/areas are also desired:
    • Veritas Netbackup; MS Exchange 2000/2003; GFI/Viper; SAN/NAS experience; Macintosh (OS 9 and 0SX); Unix/Linux; Cisco/Dell Routers and Switches; Nortel PBX's; SQL 2008; SalesLogix; SMS; Dell Poweredge Servers; Dell Open Manage; Powershell; Tape Libraries; F5 Firepass, Adobe Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator; WMI, Perl, VB, PHP or WSH are a strong plus; IIS/Apache; DNS, DHCP, WINS; Epicor and Repartee Active Voice
