The Philadelphia Zoo seeks an experienced and enthusiastic individual for the position of Curator of Primates and Small Mammals. The curator directly oversees a staff of thirteen keepers. The collection includes over twenty species of primates and over twenty species of small mammals. Primary responsibilities include oversight of husbandry and exhibition, collection planning, staff scheduling, personnel management, facility management, and review, development and implementation of safety and operational policies.
Candidates should be intensely committed to the highest standards and continuous improvement of animal care and to an inspiring visitor experience. The individual should bring a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and a strong interest in and commitment to leading and developing the keeper staff.
Qualifications include a Bachelors degree in biology, zoology or related a minimum of 5 years experience as a keeper, substantial experience in primate husbandry, and a minimum of three years experience in a supervisory capacity in an AZA accredited zoological park preferred.
