JOB DESCRIPTION:    Community and Volunteer Relations Coordinator
PROGRAM:         Development Department
ACCOUNTABILITY:        Development and Marketing Director

Under the supervision of the Development and Marketing Director develop, formalize, and implement Community Relations and Volunteer Outreach activities that increase awareness of Lincoln Child Center and enhance its ability to address the organization’s mission.  Responsible for accommodating pertinent volunteer opportunities and memorializing volunteer policies, forms, activities and relationships resulting in program improvement; managing solicitation, collection, and disbursement of in-kind donations; and coordinating the public relations and event booking/management needs of Lincoln Child Center at the 14th Street facility with the support of the Development, Facilities, and IT Departments.  Also helps to support the public relations and volunteer needs of the Development Department, Cabinet of the Membership, the Flower Groups and other auxiliaries.


  • Three (3) years previous experience with increasing responsibility relating to public relations, marketing, communications or transferable experience.  
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills
  • Experience in working with volunteers; excellent interpersonal skills; high integrity; ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the Bay Area, generally, and the East Bay, specifically
  •  Must be extremely flexible as this position often requires extended workdays, including weekends
  • Valid California driver’s license, a clear driving record and personal vehicle insurance coverage
  •  Availability of a personal vehicle in good working condition to be used on Agency business
  • College degree or equivalent experience is preferred
No physical restrictions that would prevent the employee from safely and efficiently performing assigned duties. Ability to work in place for word processing  and performing other tasks at an ergonomically correct work station for up to four hours in one stretch with periodic breaks.

  • Network with community organizations with the purposes of increasing name recognition
  • Plan and coordinate the Annual Holiday Program
  • Represent Lincoln Child Center at appropriate events
  • Coordinate the volunteer needs of the Development Department and agency at large. Support the production and design of the website, newsletter, and other collateral material
  • Oversee and coordinate the procurement of in-kind contributions
  • Coordinate press and media activities with marketing staff in LCC’s Development Department as they relate to special events and important LCC activities. 
  • Work with contacts to build name recognition.
  • Manage appropriate vendors
  • Coordinate the production of appropriate collateral materials (brochures, business cards, letterhead) 
  • Build and oversee the United Way campaign and link to the speaker’s bureau by coordinating, prepping, and scheduling LCC’s volunteer/staff/Board to actively participate
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with other agencies and community-based organizations
  • Attend required meetings, events, and required safety training sessions
  • Follow Agency policies and procedures
  • Participate in Agency in-service training program
  • Understand and follow all Lincoln Child Center safety policies, procedures and rules.
  • Perform all job duties safely
  • Identify and immediately report all workplace hazards, safety rule violations, near misses, and work-related injuries
  • Perform other duties as assigned
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, non-exempt, benefited; Non-Union

SCHEDULE:     Must be extremely flexible as this position often requires an extended workday, including evenings and weekends
