POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the operation and support of all IT network, computer workstations, servers, technology services and phone systems for the company.   This is a hands-on working position responsible for the support of approximately 70 users with focus on high-availability and reliability of core systems.  It requires someone who is proactive, responsive, communicative, hard working and enjoys both hands-on and high level responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the operation of all computer workstations, servers, networks, phone and software applications.
  • Responsible for the operation, acquisition, maintenance and troubleshooting of all computer workstations, servers, networks, operating systems, software applications, phones, building security, copiers and other technologies utilized by the Company.
  • Primary duties include; network/server performance tuning; maintaining servers and network components, troubleshooting technology problems; adding/terminating users; assigning rights and access; resetting passwords; establishing e-mail addresses; performing server backups and restores; computer hardware and software purchasing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • System security, disaster recovery and backup strategy and management.
  • Manages and maintains applications and systems including but not limited to Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, VMWare ESXi, Linux servers (Ubuntu, Suse VMs), and Microsoft Exchange 2007.
  • Responsible for evaluating and keeping current all software licensing agreements, certificates, maintenance agreements and service contracts related to technology operations.
  • Supports operation of Great Plains ERP system and maintains associated SQL databases.
  • Analyzes technology requirements and develops recommendations to streamline and improve productivity of IT function.
  • Assists users in understanding and using technology; provides user training as needed.
  • Provides outstanding customer service to all users. Develops and maintains excellent working relationship with all employees.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
 
Knowledge of and experience with:
 
  • Windows Server Environment - Microsoft Server 2008, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, VPN management.
  • Active Directory and Group Policy management
  • VMWare ESX Servers and clustering, high-availability infrastructure, storage management
  • Networking - including TCP/IP, firewall, layer 2/3 switches, Cisco ASA, VLAN, iSCSI SAN, enterprise WLAN, DHCP and DNS
  • Linux Server environment
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007.
  • Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics ERP support or similar ERP package support.
  • Microsoft SQL Server.
  • AppAssure backup and recovery solution.
  • Desktop, server and laptop hardware and peripherals support, repair and maintenance.
  • StarWinds SAN storage solution – highly desirable
  • SolarWinds Orion or SAM platform management – highly desirable

Education/Experience:

* Bachelor's degree and 10+ years related experience
* Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
