We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to work alongside engineers and scientists to design precision mechanical and opto-mechanical equipment. The candidate must have a firm foundation in machine design including relevant work experience and a successful track record. The role requires working with cross functional teams to develop robust, production worthy designs from concept through manufacturing.
Extensive design experience with precision mechanical and opto-mechanical systems
Expert level CAD -- SolidWorks
Expert in design for low particulation/micro-contamination
Working knowledge of FEA methods
Strong analytical, problem solving, and debug skills
Acts independently to define methods and procedures
Experience working with optical metrology equipment
Expert with mechanical tolerances for manufacturing, and cost/performance optimization
Optical design concepts, polarization, ray tracing,
Expert level FEA
Experience in practical kinematic design
Experience with thermal and vibration analysis
Experience with motion control systems
Experience with laser interferometers, capacitance probes, autocollimators, etc.
May supervise the activities of others
8-10 years of related experience designing Opto-Mechanical precision systems and components. Semiconductor Capital Equipment Manufacturing experiences a plus.
Must have a BSME or BS in the Physical Sciences. MS is a plus. Minimum 10 years SolidWorks and Simulation experience, minimum 3 years’ experience with EPDM.
