TechTarget is seeking an Associate Editor to work on SearchCIO.com and SearchCompliance.com, online publications dedicated to covering trends and analysis of interest to C-level IT executives and IT compliance officers, respectively.
Topics include IT leadership, CIO career development, IT service management, IT spending, IT governance, regulatory compliance, data management, big data analytics, cloud computing, mobility and more.
The editor's primary responsibilities include editorial support to prepare content for site posting, process management related to PDF-based ezines, participation in Twitter account management and Web site management duties. In addition, the candidate will write multiple articles each month, such as Q&A interviews, video recaps, blog posts, definitions and other original content relevant to C-level IT executives and IT compliance officers.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform keyword research and implement SEO best practices in articles;
  • Write compelling content summaries and display type;
  • Write articles based on original reporting; 
  • Perform content editing of some contributed and/or staff-written articles;
  • Handle small amount of production work, including site maintenance, in content management system;
  • Perform e-products production work, mostly proofing and text editing, in Adobe Acrobat;
  • Recruit speakers for, develop questions for and moderate multimedia-based content;
  • Research reader interest through traffic analysis;
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of site topics; and
  • Manage relationships with readers by, in part, monitoring the site's email inbox.
Knowledge, skills and abilities desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or other relevant course of study;
  • Two to four years' experience writing and/or editing;
  • Critical thinking skills;
  • Aptitude for technical subjects;
  • Understanding of journalism ethics;
  • Experience with interviewing;
  • High energy and self-motivation;
  • Strong writing, content editing and verbal skills;
  • Willingness to travel occasionally;
  • Intellectual curiosity, innovation and high standards;
  • Adherence to deadlines; and
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
