Position Overview: The Development Manager works closely with the Best Buddies Challenge Senior Management Team on all development, sales, marketing, and recruitment initiatives. The manager is responsible for creating and converting interested parties into event participants and is the point person for tracking and benchmarking participant commitments, maintaining accurate grids, coordination of key sponsor/corporate meetings and team development. The position has specific recruitment and fundraising goals set on a timeline and plays a crucial role in supporting the Director, Development in sponsorship sales and development outreach.

Job Requirements
•    Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years experience in development, fundraising, recruitment marketing or event management.
•    Excellent project management skills, including managing and prioritizing projects with multiple and often competing deadlines, and the ability to work under pressure.
•    Proven ability to deliver high-touch customer service and work with customer relations management (CRM) database systems (e.g., keep contact logs, conversation notes, etc.)
•    Must be the lead team player who is willing to pitch-in and help with everything from passing out flyers on bike paths to presenting to corporations
•    Able to work non-traditional hours, such as nights and weekends, and attend social events aimed at lead generation and recruitment.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, with exceptional skills in Excel required
•    Highly organized and detail-oriented
•    Able to work independently and productively from a remote location
•    Work well under pressure and establish priorities while reporting to and working with a variety of people
•    Motivated with a self-starter personality
•    Deadline conscious
•    Own a car and be able to travel locally and out-of-state
•    Be a team player
•    Experience with cycling a plus

Key Job Responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
•    Work with Strategic Development Team to develop annual plan, timeline and goals for each revenue line item
•    Cultivate new development relationships
•    Implement and execute in-market rider recruitment, retention, and fundraising strategies designed in concert with Strategic Development Team and supported by the Ride Team
•    Manage local rider revenue operations efforts and retains responsibility for:
o    In-market rider recruitment
o    In-market rider marketing, grassroots outreach and local presence
o    In-market rider training and participant engagement activities
•    Work with Strategic Development Team to develop a comprehensive sales deck
•    Work with the Ride Team to meet and/or exceed goals of lead conversion and recruitment
•    Create and design local activities based on current and past participant data and trends
•    Implement all on-the-ground recruitment efforts (i.e. Corporate/Team presentations)
•    Develop and implement plans to build lead base using grassroots marketing efforts (i.e. Attendance or booth space at events, expos, festivals etc.)
•    Meet weekly and monthly goals for lead generation
•    Analyze the effectiveness of all grassroots efforts and provide regular reports on increased leads, numbers of people receiving marketing materials etc.
•    Create and foster relationships through existing Best Buddies resources (i.e., past participants, chapters, contacts etc.) in order to expand outreach activities and support marketing initiatives.
•    Utilize local volunteers to support outreach efforts (tabling events, canvassing, etc.)
•    Speak publicly and (also train direct reports to) present to various groups, including corporate employee groups, civic groups, colleges and universities, etc. for the purpose of recruiting participants.
•    Work with the logistics team to make improvements to the event based upon participant feedback
•    Maintain active and accurate development grids
•    Provide administrative support to Development Director in wide variety of tasks
•    Assists in Corporate Team growth and meeting/presentation coordination
•    Coordinate all facets of sponsor pitch and development meetings
•    Provide the highest level of client service in the form of meeting follow-up, thank you letters, invoices, etc
•    Track individual sponsor ROI for annual reports
•    Coordinate outreach and grassroots marketing calendars
•    Aid in logistics needs for outreach events, sponsor and top fundraiser event experience
•    Take the lead on special projects as requested.
