Position Summary
The Storage Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation and support of the Safeguard storage network. This position provides technology, capacity planning, and performance recommendations as well as assistance to areas of the organization on an as needed basis. Demonstrate leadership and teamwork within all areas of the IT department.
 
Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Monitor the general health of the storage network
  • Perform capacity planning duties; make recommendations for improving the overall performance of the storage network
  • Work in step with IT development in developing an understanding of how the business is utilizing the storage technology
  • SAN/NAS design (in conjunction with the Infrastructure Technical Architect), installation, and troubleshooting
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and its application to the business
  • Create / maintain documentation for the storage network infrastructure
  • Maintain business understanding of the applications supported by the storage network environment
  • Business continuity planning and support

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in related field of study or 5+ years of equivalent work experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in storage network design, installation, performance tuning, business continuity, and capacity planning
  • Strong working knowledge of Zoning, LUN masking, Veritas Volume Manager or understanding of Logical Volume Managers
  • Experience with NAS and SAN architecture including Fibre Channel Directors and Switches required
  • Experience with NETAPP preferred
  • Experience with Symantec/Veritas Netbackup or other Enterprise backup/recovery product helpful
  • Strong troubleshooting background with various storage network issues (hardware, software, and performance)
  • Secondary skill sets in UNIX or Windows administration required
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and error/defect/expense reduction
  • Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assignments
