Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate the efforts of the Linux Administration team with other functions and projects within Network Operations

Provide monthly status reports on behalf of the Linux team

Coordinate 7x24 emergency availability of Linux Administrator staff

Provide technical performance assessments of Linux Administrators

Provides system management and administration support consisting of proprietary and COTS hardware and software networked via global terrestrial and RF/satellite communications equipment in support of 7x24 operations.

Provides services to FBCB2/CECOM business partners and information technology professionals (to include third party support contractors) in the following areas:

99.95% system uptime

Real-time monitoring, traffic tracking, and trend analysis

Provides technical leadership to the NOC support staff in troubleshooting problems and addressing system outages

Ability to research and identify system and security patches and ability to perform system upgrades/patches in accordance with Army/DoD IT security standards

Ability to Install and configure Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Intel platforms, and conduct performance tuning

Ability to apply patches to production systems

Conduct backup and recovery plan and execution to meet corporate standards

Ability to perform application and system software upgrades and operating system upgrades

Ability to write Shell/Perl scripts to automate daily and operational activities

Ability to compile applications and tools from source code

Ability to generate system monitoring, management, and performance reports using proprietary and standard COTS tools

Familiar with Configuration Management responsibilities

Documentation focused

                Communication skills

Present information to high-level government and commercial decision makers via briefings, telephone conferences and written correspondence as necessary

Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested

Manage and technically lead team in Linux administrative and architectural initiatives


Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Experience, Education and Licensure:
BS in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience
8+ years of proven experience with Linux

Minimum Requirements:

BS in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience

8+ years of proven experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Experience with open-source software

Experience in LAN/WAN (TCP/IP) networking environment

Experience with Cisco

Working knowledge of standard Linux backup and recovery tools

Working knowledge of standard Linux security methodologies, hardening procedures, and best practices

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Must be a US citizen and currently hold a Secret Clearance

Security+ CE certification

Linux Administration and Support coursework

Ability and willingness to work “on call” as required
