Supervise and perform engineering work in support of projects and task in PCS and other wireless business plans. The primary function involves supervision and subject matter expert on RF Optimization and performance engineering of existing PCS network. This position will be involved in the Engineering of next generation wireless networks using LTE based technology systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Supervise a team of entry level RF Engineers and Technicians in the engineering of the PCS network.
b. Perform Capacity planning and performance engineering for a CDMA/EVDO/LTE based PCS network.
c. Perform RF Optimization and customer trouble investigation in the PCS network. Supervision in the collection and post processing of data is required to accomplish task.
d. Perform Call and Data traffic statistic analysis and be able to forecast growth projections for Capacity and network resource growth.
e. Coordinates work for associate RF Engineers and contractors. The task will involve RF drive test preparation, search area map preparation for new sites and problem resolution with RF equipment vendors are part of the expected responsibilities.
f. Perform Microwave radio engineering and basic Ethernet backhaul facilities engineering work.
g. Provides engineering support to other Shentel organizations as necessary.
h. Performs activities associated with the effective management of internal site databases and coordination with other groups as part of Shentel PCS compliance process.
i. Ability to learn new wireless technologies, features, capabilities and improvements is expected. Primarily understanding LTE based systems will be a skill requirement.
j. Prepare presentations of wireless projects and provide easy to understand reports of technical plans is required.
k. Responsible for following, supporting, and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures.
a. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
b. Minimum of 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
c. RF planning or optimization tools, knowledge of wireless fundamentals, basic MS Office programming skills desired.
d. Technical understanding of wireless technologies such as LTE, CDMA and EVDO.
a. Knowledge of CDMA, EV-DO and LTE network desired.
b. Understanding of IP and Ethernet based systems is preferred.
