We have a wonderful summer position supporting the Copland Music Library working with the Chief Librarian. As part of the library staff, you will be responsible for providing and organizing all manner of music materials including chamber music, study materials, all resource books and recordings for staff use. You will need to work effectively with a diverse group students, faculty and staff of the Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI). You will also need to interact with other librarians that part of one of the 3 music libraries at Tanglewood, along with the TMC Orchestra Library at Ozawa Hall and the BSO Orchestra Library in the Shed. Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation of chamber music parts for works to be performed by the Tanglewood Music Center during the summer.
- Assist with check-out and return of all materials in the library.
- Run errands and copy parts as necessary.
- Assist with maintaining a policy for late materials and collect fines as necessary.
- Catalog new materials to be added to the library’s collection.
- Assist with cataloguing recordings for performance reference as necessary.
Qualifications: M ust be well-versed in the standard symphonic, operatic and chamber music repertoire. Personal performance experience is preferred. Must be able to maintain a professional manner and be extremely organized, efficient and detail oriented. Able to work well in a fast-pasted environment, individually as well as part of a team. Flexibility with work hours, including a willingness to work overtime when necessary (salary is based on an hourly rate with 1.5 overtime pay over 40 hours per week). Must have a car and valid driver’s license. Dates of Employment: June 15 - August 21, 2018 Hours: M-F 9:000 am – 5:00 pm Sat 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Sun Occasional alternating concert coverage *This position is eligible for overtime: willingness to work long and/or unconventional hours necessary. . Housing provided if necessary.
