Access Services Assistant (Part-Time, Weekends)

ODU Library is currently seeking applicants for the position of Access Services Assistant. Hours include Saturdays, 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays, 1 to 8 PM.  The successful candidate(s) must be proactive, dependable, energetic, and flexible, with a positive attitude, a willingness to continuously learn, and the ability to adjust to a changing environment. This position reports to the Access Services Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise ODU Library’s Access Services Department during weekend shifts; train and supervise student work staff; assist patrons with basic library circulation functions; perform building opening/closing procedures; and participate in the creation and implementation of circulation policies and procedures. Responsibilities may also include creating library displays, signage, and promotional materials; and/or preparation and processing items for reserve using library automated systems; as well as OhioLINK preparation, maintenance, and processing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree, supervisory experience; customer service experience; computer experience; excellent communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators; ability to work as a team member to establish and achieve library goals; and to share in the library’s service-oriented mission.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Academic library experience; experience with Innovative Interfaces Integrated Library System; familiarity with OhioLINK and ILLiad software.
 
SALARY: $12.00/hr
