Ohio Dominican University’s Division of Mathematics, Computer and Natural Sciences seeks an Academic Division Chairperson beginning August 2013.
At the undergraduate level, the Division offers courses in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Exercise Science, Mathematics, and Physics, with Exercise Science and Physician Assistant Studies at the graduate level.
The major responsibility of an academic Division Chairperson is to manage the administrative, fiscal, and instructional resources of the division. Such management includes, but is not limited to, recruiting full-time and part-time faculty; scheduling courses and faculty; providing for the ongoing professional development and evaluation of faculty; mentoring and encouraging the research programs of the faculty; assisting faculty and students in securing outside opportunities and funding for research; overseeing curriculum development and assessment; teaching classes in the division; overseeing and participating in student academic advisement; and responding to student needs as they arise. The Chairperson is also responsible for overseeing the planning and assessment of division majors and other programs, and for ensuring that division courses, programs of study, and extracurricular activities support the mission of Ohio Dominican University.
The successful candidate will possess an earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution in a discipline within the division, be eligible for appointment at the full professor level, and have a record of research/scholarly achievement, with experience as a chair or dean of a department/division highly desirable
